Grocery retailer Wakfern has announced a partnership with Uber Eats to expand its on-demand delivery capabilities.
Shoppers will now be able to shop from over 375 Wakefern supermarket locations across the Northeast through the delivery platform.
Additionally, there will be delivery under neighborhood banners, including Shoprite, Price Rite Marketplace, The Fresh Grocer, Morton Williams, and Fairway Marketplace.
This new move aims to offer shoppers a wide range of items, including produce, meat, seafood, pantry staples, and household essentials.
As part of the expansion, Uber Eats is offering customers discounts of up to 30 per cent off their first order from the eligible Wakefern banners.
Darren Caudill, chief sales officer at Wakefern Food said: “As a cooperative made up of family-owned supermarkets with deep roots in communities across the Northeast, our focus has always been on serving our neighbors where and how they shop.
“Uber Eats gives our stores another way to serve customers where they are, making it easier to get the fresh foods, neighborhood service, and the value they count on with added speed and convenience.”
This launch comes as the delivery platform invests further in grocery and retail as the company expands its footprint with national supermarket brands across the country.
The current addition aims to strengthen the delivery platform’s marketplace, which has continued to see strong growth across North America as more consumers are seeking out convenience for everyday products.
Prashant Garg, head of North America, Uber Eats said: “Customers are increasingly looking for flexible ways to stock up on fresh groceries without compromising on selection or value.
“By partnering with Wakefern and adding more than 375 supermarkets to our platform, including beloved banners like ShopRite and Fairway Market, we’re continuing to build a marketplace that brings expansive choice.”
