Lidl has appointed company veteran Alan Barry as CEO of its U.S. business as the discount grocer continues to reshape its American leadership team.
Barry, currently COO of Lidl U.S., will officially assume the role in July. He replaces Joel Rampoldt, who departed in January to take on an advisory position with the retailer.
Following Rampoldt’s exit, Marco Giudici — Lidl U.S.’s chief customer officer and former CEO of Lidl Romania — had been serving as interim CEO.
Barry joined Lidl U.S. as COO in 2024 and previously spent 17 years in senior leadership positions with the company across Ireland and Great Britain.
The leadership shake-up also includes two additional executive appointments. Maciej Tylkowski will join the U.S. operation as COO, while Jassine Ouali has been named chief customer officer.
Both executives are transferring from comparable leadership roles within Lidl’s operations in Great Britain and France, according to Chain Store Age sister publication Progressive Grocer.
Owned by the Schwarz Group, Lidl operates more than 12,000 stores across 31 countries, including roughly 200 locations in the United States.
