Walmart has announced a combination of its Walmart+ and Sam’s Clubs programs and offers customers a streamlined membership for $120 a year.
This allows shoppers to pay less for the memberships and receive more value on the items according to the retailer.
This marks a major move for the department store chain, which is now available for the equivalent of $10 a month.
As part of the offer, existing Walmart+ members can join Sam’s Club Plus for an additional $22 a year.
The current club members can upgrade to Sam’s Club Plus for an extra $60 to avail the deal. Sam’s Club Plus members can activate Walmart+ at no additional cost.
There are multiple benefits to memberships, which include Sam’s Club access, member-only discounts on private-label products, free delivery from the companies, and gas savings of 10 cents a gallon.
Shoppers can now collect mass groceries from the wholesale segment, Sam’s Club, and can pick up weekly essentials from Walmart.
John Furner, president and CEO said: “We’re giving people a reason to expect more from their memberships.
“For $120 a year, we’re raising expectations for what a membership can deliver: more money in their pockets and more time to call their own.”
This move is a business strategy from the department to increase its overall loyalty program subscribers by consolidating the two loyalty schemes.
