BJ’s Wholesale Club enters Texas with first store, more openings planned

BJ’s Wholesale Club has officially entered the Texas market, opening its first location in Forney, part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, as the retailer accelerates its national expansion.

The new site marks BJ’s 264th club and its 202nd gas station, extending the company’s footprint into a key growth region.

The retailer plans to open three additional Texas locations in the coming weeks, including stores in Waxahachie, Fort Worth and Grand Prairie.

Leadership has reiterated plans to open between 25 and 30 new clubs across 2025 and 2026, with a similar pace expected in the years ahead as BJ’s scales its presence nationwide.

CEO Bob Eddy said the move into Texas represents a major milestone, with the company expecting its value-focused model, offering savings of up to 25% compared to traditional grocery stores — to resonate with local consumers.

Alongside its core warehouse clubs, BJ’s is also experimenting with smaller formats. In January, the retailer opened its second BJ’s Market location in Delray Beach, a roughly 55,000-square-foot store that is about half the size of a traditional club.

The company also expanded in Chattanooga earlier this year, marking its sixth location in the state.

As part of its Texas launch, BJ’s is supporting the local community with a $25,000 donation to Forney Food Pantry, aimed at improving access to food and essential supplies.

Headquartered in Marlborough, BJ’s currently operates 264 clubs across 21 states and continues to position itself as a growing challenger in the warehouse club sector.
