Walmart has announced improved health benefits for its US-based employees with three major changes to the structure.
This move is part of the retailer’s strategy to invest in its staff members and offer more benefits for the colleagues working at stores.
According to the business, the parents of babies within the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) will have a fully paid leave for up to 12 weeks.
This current upgrade is able to be combined with other time off and leave benefits, including maternity and parental paid leaves.
Donna Morris, EVP and chief people officer of Walmart said: “We are excited to share upcoming changes to our benefits during this annual enrollment season.
“We’re adding even more ways for associates and their families to live better through comprehensive and affordable healthcare and benefits.”
The business is also offering new zero-dollar prescriptions for workers, which will allow employees to access medications at reduced costs.
This involves over 250 generic, brand-name, and specialty medications, which include some insulin and inhalers.
As part of the new scheme is a program that allows associates and dependents enrolled in most Walmart medical plans to connect with an in-person specialist for treatment for free.
This marks a significant shift for the retailer and builds on its commitment to providing good offers for workers.
