Carlsberg reports solid second quarter results

Carlsberg has posted mixed second quarter results, with revenue increasing by 3 per cent to approximately $3.8bn.

The solid results were driven by volume increasing by 5 per cent across growth categories, with a 9 per cent and 11 per cent rise in soft drinks and alcohol-free brews.

The company maintained its full-year outlook and forecasted operating profit growth at an estimated 4 per cent to 6 per cent.

The business also expects a foreign currency translation impact of approximately over $14.7bn on operating profit for 2026.

Carlsberg CEO Jacob Aarup-Andersen said: “The group delivered robust revenue growth in Q3, reflecting good momentum in many markets and the resilience of our multi-beverage portfolio, which more than compensated for the challenging trading environment in China.

“We further strengthened our strategic partnership with PepsiCo by expanding our collaboration into Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, providing a strong platform to further develop a multi-beverage portfolio across the region.

“We expect the Sapporo joint venture in Southeast Asia to complete by the end of the year, and we’re progressing the potential IPO of our Indian business.”

The company’s premium beer portfolio decreased by 3 per cent because of a weak development in China over the summer.

The premium Carlsberg volumes experienced a surge of 20 per cent which was driven by a standout performance in South Asia and China.

The overall brand volumes increased by 3 per cent, which was affected by lower mainstream volumes in the UK.

There was a strong performance across the Central & Eastern Europe and India regions with an organic volume growth of 7.5 per cent.
