Costco announces delivery partnership with Uber Eats

Costco has announced a delivery partnership with Uber Eats, which allows the retailer to bring on-demand and scheduled delivery through the application.

Now nearly 600 Costco locations will be available through Uber Eats, which marks a major expansion for the retailer.

This move is part of a business strategy to offer shoppers a convenient way to shop at their local Costco store and brings one of the biggest retailers in the US to Uber Eats’ growing marketplace.

Andrew Macdonald, president and chief operating officer at Uber said: “We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Costco nationwide, giving Costco members more ways to shop and bringing the brand’s storied selection and value to more consumers.

“Costco is one of the largest and most trusted retailers in the country for good reason, and our nationwide partnership demonstrates the scale and opportunity Uber can bring to retailers looking to meet more of consumers’ everyday shopping needs.”

As part of the collaboration, Uber and Costco will be offering additional benefits to shoppers as part of the retailer’s loyalty program.

The new promotional offers will include Uber One membership savings, discounted gift cards, and direct purchases of a Costco membership through Uber Eats.

According to the business, eligible Costco members can receive 50 per cent off annual Uber One membership for the first year, followed by 20 per cent off in subsequent years.

This multi-state expansion builds on the delivery platform, and Costco’s existing global partnership with the retailer is also available on Uber Eats in Canada, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, France, and Spain.

The extension will expand Costco’s overall reach to millions of customers across 47 states, up from nearly 17.
