Sam’s Club cuts membership fees and extends store hours ahead of holiday season

Sam’s Club is giving shoppers more reasons to join, and more time to shop, ahead of the busy holiday season.

The Walmart-owned warehouse retailer has announced a limited-time membership offer that significantly reduces annual fees.

From October 4 to October 31, new members can sign up for a Club membership for $15 (down from $50) or a Plus membership for $50 (down from $110).

To accompany the offer, Sam’s will host an Open House event from October 17 to 19, allowing non-members to shop in-store and access member pricing across all categories, including groceries, electronics, and household essentials.

“This special weekend offers the chance to shop the club like a member and discover the value we provide first hand,” the company said in a statement.

Alongside the membership promotion, Sam’s Club has introduced a number of updates designed to improve convenience.

Curbside pickup is now free for all members, with no minimum purchase requirement, while Express delivery has been simplified to a flat $8 fee per order for Plus members, down from $16 on smaller orders. Club members will continue to pay a $20 flat rate.

In response to what it described as “overwhelming” member feedback, Sam’s Club is also extending its store hours.

As of October 12, most locations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, though hours may vary on holidays. Stores will remain closed on New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and Easter.

To promote the new initiatives, Sam’s Club has enlisted actor Chris Pratt to front its “Yes AND” holiday campaign, spotlighting the retailer’s combination of savings, convenience, and expanded services for members during the peak shopping season.
