Department store chain Belk is set to open two new outlet stores in North Carolina this spring, growing its innovative retail format.
The locations, at Eastridge Mall in Gastonia and Triangle Town Center Mall in Raleigh, will feature a split-level design.
The first floor will house an outlet, while the second level will maintain the traditional Belk store setup.
The combination of full-price and outlet stores in one space has proven popular with customers, offering a unique shopping experience.
The design lets shoppers enjoy a wide range of products at regular prices on the upper floor, while uncovering discounted high-end and designer items on the lower level.
The outlet products are sourced from Belk’s own stores, with additional items specifically selected for the outlets, including fashion and home goods.
“Our customers have embraced the dual-format concept since we opened our first outlet nearly two years ago, and we’re excited to expand it to more locations,” said Belk CEO Don Hendricks.
These new outlets bring North Carolina’s total to three, with the first opening in Charlotte last fall.
Belk’s outlet concept first launched in 2023 with a store in Greeneville, Tennessee, and has since expanded.
As part of its growth, Belk has also been enhancing its product assortment, adding over 250 new brands in the last two years.
