Amazon has launched new one-hour and three-hour delivery options across the U.S., as it accelerates its push into ultra-fast fulfilment to compete more directly with rivals like Walmart and Target.
The new services cover more than 90,000 products, spanning a “supercenter-style” assortment that includes groceries, cleaning supplies, health and beauty items, over-the-counter medications, electronics, toys, apparel and home goods.
One-hour delivery is now available in hundreds of locations, including parts of Los Angeles, Chicago and Washington, D.C., as well as smaller markets such as Des Moines and Boise.
The three-hour option has a broader footprint, reaching more than 2,000 communities, including towns like Cornwall and Harrah. Amazon said both services will expand further in the coming months.
The capability is powered by Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery facilities, which consolidate the full order lifecycle — from picking and packing to final-mile delivery, under one roof.
These hubs, combined with predictive AI-driven inventory placement, allow the company to reduce fulfilment times and improve operational efficiency.
CEO Andy Jassy has previously highlighted same-day delivery as Amazon’s fastest-growing segment, with volumes rising nearly 70% year over year in 2025.
The new one- and three-hour options build on that momentum and complement ongoing tests of even faster services, including the “Amazon Now” 30-minute delivery pilot focused on essentials and groceries.
The move reflects a broader industry shift toward speed and convenience. Walmart has expanded its three-hour delivery reach to cover the vast majority of U.S. households, while Target continues to scale next-day delivery and other rapid fulfilment options.
Pricing for the new services reflects the premium on speed. Amazon Prime members pay $9.99 for one-hour delivery and $4.99 for three-hour delivery, while non-members are charged $19.99 and $14.99 respectively.
The rollout underscores Amazon’s continued investment in logistics infrastructure as it looks to strengthen its competitive position in convenience-led retail.
