New Balance unveils NYC marathon collection

New Balance has launched its merchandising strategy for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon through a staggered product launch aligned with key event milestones.

As the official athletic footwear and apparel sponsor for the New York Road Runners (NYRR), the brand is leveraging its partnership to deliver three phased collection releases, running from early September through the marathon weekend.

The initial rollout begins September 10 with the core collection featuring performance footwear alongside apparel and accessories.

This is followed by the Finisher Collection on October 8, targeting participants and supporters seeking commemorative items post-race.

A limited-edition Five-Borough Collection will be available exclusively at the TCS NYC Marathon Expo between October 29 and October 31.

This event-linked distribution approach aims to capture heightened consumer interest in the immediate pre-race period.

The price range spans from $45 to $190 for apparel, reflecting a variety of training and race-day apparel options, while footwear is positioned between $155 and $290, which reflects New Balance’s premium segment focus.

The phased release schedule allows for staged inventory management and targeted marketing initiatives corresponding to runner preparation and event participation timelines. The marathon is set for November 1, 2026, is expected to feature nearly 60,000 runners.

NYRR’s broader race calendar includes over 60 youth and adult events annually, underpinning its status as a major organizer in the running community.

New Balance’s alignment with NYRR and the marathon’s significant participation levels provide a promotional platform to support both performance-focused and commemorative product lines.

Kara O’Malley, senior merchant, product creation at New Balance said: “This collection was created to honor both the journey and the achievement of every runner preparing for the 2026 TCS NYC Marathon.”

“From premium race-day performance products to apparel inspired by the city’s energy and culture, every piece was thoughtfully designed to help runners celebrate their connection to this extraordinary event and the communities that make it so special.”
