Harris Teeter announced a $253m investment over three years focused on its Charlotte, North Carolina-area operations, including the opening of three new stores and multiple store renovation projects.
The retailer plans to open new supermarkets in Fort Mill, South Carolina; Lake Wylie, South Carolina; and Kannapolis, North Carolina.
Alongside these new locations, Harris Teeter will pursue a phased rollout of renovations at existing stores in the region. According to the business, renovation timing, scope, and specific updates will vary by site.
Potential upgrades for the stores include expanded fresh food sections, bakery and prepared-food offerings, revised store layouts and fixtures, upgrades to shopping carts, exterior areas, and parking.
The investment will also enhance pickup and delivery capabilities, as well as updates to store décor, signage, and overall store environment according to the business.
Locations for the renovations include Mint Hill, Northcross, Ballantyne, Campus Hills, and Matthews stores.
Harris Teeter will introduce the remodels and new locations with Taste of Teeter events marking grand reopenings and store launches.
The company characterized the projects as a phased effort designed to improve and expand its Charlotte-area presence through 2026.
Tammy DeBoer, president of Harris Teeter said: “For generations, Charlotte families have made us a part of their neighborhoods and this investment reflects our long-term commitment to the customers and communities we serve.
“These investments reflect areas where we believe we can better support our customers and communities — from select department and service enhancements to updates that improve convenience in stores.”
