Michaels rolls out third store with experiential format

Arts and crafts retailer Michaels has introduced a new store format at a third location in Rogers, Arkansas.

This builds on the successful debut in Easton, Ohio, and Irving, Texas, and is part of Michael’s broader transformation strategy.

The new structure aims to bring an upgraded, customer-first experience to shoppers while testing key elements that will eventually roll out to shoppers at all stores.

Moving forward, the company plans to open additional concept stores and bring upgraded features to existing locations throughout 2026.

The store has distinct and separated shopping worlds to create a more modern and experiential customer experience.

There are Knit & Sew Shop, Fine Arts and Floral & Greenery sections, which each highlight key products, creative projects, and step-by-step styling instructions.

Additionally, the retailer will be offering expanded framing and personalization services, including a custom bar with embroidery and engraving.

There are also five interactive stations, including a candy bar, favor bar, charmed bar, patch bar, and marker bar.

The retailer is also tapping into the growing demand for social media trends with a seasonal & trends section, which has a Pinterest Trend Bar.

The new store has a welcome center with self-checkouts alongside buy online and pick up in-store stations.

David Boone, CEO of Michaels said: “Our new stores represent an exciting milestone within Michaels’ broader transformation to redefine the customer journey and become a true destination for creativity and celebration.

“The new format reflects our customers’ desire for more inspiration and hands-on, analog experiences, while providing a space for the local community to connect, create, and celebrate.”
