Brookshire Grocery has announced the promotion of Jerry LeClair as the permanent chief executive officer, effective immediately.
LeClair has worked in the position of interim CEO since February and brings over 40 years of grocery retail industry experience to the role.
He joined the supermarket retailer in 2019 as the EVP and chief merchant officer and has played an essential role in leading operations and strengthening the company, according to the business.
Prior to joining the grocery retailer, he held executive leadership positions with Giant Eagle and Harris Teeter following his beginning role at Albertsons.
He first began in the grocery industry as a courtesy clerk and gradually worked towards the role of CEO.
LeClair said: “I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve as CEO of Brookshire Grocery Company (BGC).
“BGC has an incredible legacy built by generations of leaders and employee-partners, and I look forward to working alongside our talented team as we continue serving our customers, supporting our communities, and building a strong future together.”
As part of his new role, he will manage the family-owned retailer, which operates over 200 stores in the US across Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.
Additionally, Brookshire also runs three distribution facilities, two based in Tyler, Texas, and one based in Monroe, Los Angeles.
