Amazon is expanding access to its artificial intelligence-powered health assistant and introducing new incentives for Prime subscribers.
The company first unveiled the tool, called Health AI, in January 2026 within its One Medical app. The service offers around-the-clock personalized health guidance tailored to a user’s medical history.
Beginning March 11, Amazon is extending Health AI access to customers more broadly and plans to continue expanding availability in the coming weeks, with the aim of making the feature available to all U.S. customers. Prime members will also receive additional benefits tied to the offering.
Amazon says Health AI is intended to work alongside, rather than replace, traditional care from medical professionals. Powered by agentic AI, the system is designed to identify when symptoms, questions or situations require clinical expertise.
When appropriate, it can direct users to connect with a One Medical provider through messaging, a rapid video consultation or by scheduling an in-person visit.
For instance, if a user reports symptoms that may require an in-person evaluation or meets certain clinical thresholds, Health AI will recommend the appropriate care option. The tool can also schedule a virtual or physical appointment — often for the same day or next day, or within minutes when urgent attention is required.
Beyond symptom guidance, Health AI can assist with routine healthcare tasks. These include booking appointments with a One Medical provider or helping users renew prescriptions, which can then be filled through Amazon Pharmacy.
After granting Health AI permission to access their health data, users can also receive explanations of lab results, diagnoses and other medical records.
According to Amazon, this access allows the system to deliver more precise and individualized responses to questions about symptoms, medications and treatments. The broader rollout follows what the company describes as an “overwhelmingly positive” response from One Medical patients and providers.
As part of an introductory promotion, eligible U.S. Prime members using Health AI will receive up to five complimentary direct-message consultations with a One Medical provider covering more than 30 common conditions.
These include issues such as cold and flu, allergies, acid reflux, pink eye, urinary tract infections, erectile dysfunction, anti-aging skin care and hair loss. Amazon says the offer represents up to $145 in free healthcare services.
These direct-message consultations can also be shared with family members through Amazon Family, which allows Prime users to extend certain benefits to others living in their household.
The promotion is also available to customers enrolled in Prime’s discounted membership programs.
After the initial five visits are used, customers who access direct-message care through Health AI can pay $29 per telehealth consultation under the Amazon One Medical pay-per-visit option.
Alternatively, they can subscribe to a One Medical membership for round-the-clock virtual care. Prime members receive the membership for $99 annually, compared with the standard price of $199 per year.
Health AI is built on Amazon Bedrock, the company’s proprietary AI platform, and functions as a multi-agent system. A primary agent interacts directly with patients, while supporting sub-agents manage specialized tasks and workflows.
Auditor agents monitor conversations in real time, and sentinel agents oversee the broader system while enabling escalation to human clinicians when a case requires professional review.
Amazon says all Health AI interactions occur within a HIPAA-compliant environment.
Conversations are secured through encryption and strict access controls, and protected health information from Amazon One Medical and Amazon Pharmacy is not used to market products in the broader Amazon store or by Amazon Ads. The company also states that it does not sell customer personal data.
However, the company does use abstracted usage patterns to train Health AI models, without including personally identifiable information, in ways permitted under HIPAA regulations.
“As we continue to innovate to make Health AI more useful, we’re building toward a future where customers can use it whether they’re seeing a One Medical provider or being referred to a specialist at partner health systems—creating true continuity across their entire care journey,” Amazon said in a corporate blog post.
