Target slashes prices on 3,000 essentials to help tighter budgets

Target is lowering prices on 3,000 food, beverage, and household items this month to help consumers manage tighter budgets during the holiday season.

The discounts, which include baby products and pantry staples, come as inflation and economic pressures continue to affect household spending.

The move follows Target’s launch of a Thanksgiving meal deal for under $5 per person, which it says is its lowest price ever, available from November 16.

“I’m proud of the way our team moved quickly to lower prices on thousands of items our guests need most,” said Lisa Roath, executive VP and chief merchandising officer of food, essentials, and beauty. “It’s important work that will make a difference for families managing tight household budgets during the holidays.”

Alongside the price cuts, Target announced a $500,000 donation to Feeding America, the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization, as food banks prepare for heightened demand.

“Target is proud to build on our longstanding partnership with Feeding America,” said Kiera Fernandez, executive VP and chief community and stakeholder engagement officer. “In times of increased need, we remain focused on showing up with care and consistency for families across the country.”

The latest donation contributes to Target’s 2025 food security goal of over $2.5 million in grants and 150 million pounds of food, part of the $400 million in products and cash it expects to provide to nonprofits this year. The retailer has donated more than $16 million to Feeding America over the past two decades.
