IKEA is marking its 40th anniversary in the US with a 40-week celebration packed with promotions, product launches, and giveaways.
The Swedish home furnishings giant opened its first American store in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania, back in 1985, and now operates 53 locations across the country.
To commemorate the milestone, IKEA is rolling out a series of themed campaigns, including limited-edition collections, discounts, loyalty member perks, and social media contests. Shoppers can expect new promotions and product drops each week through early 2025, with IKEA Family members receiving exclusive access to many of the offers.
Here’s what to expect from IKEA’s 40th anniversary celebration:
40 Weeks of Deals

NYTILLVERKAD Donation Campaign
Between September 3–27, IKEA will donate 40% of sales from the NYTILLVERKAD collection to Family Promise, Inc., a nonprofit supporting families facing homelessness.
AURTIENDE Collection Launch
IKEA fans can shop a limited-edition, in-store-only collection of apparel and accessories released as part of the celebration.
In-Store 40th Anniversary Event – Sept. 27
On September 27, IKEA stores nationwide will host a day of festivities featuring food tastings, workshops, product demos, and a complimentary breakfast plate for IKEA Family members.
With 53 stores across the US, IKEA is using this milestone as a chance to thank long-time customers, attract new fans, and showcase the values that have made it a household name in American homes for four decades.
The campaign aims to highlight IKEA’s legacy in American homes while also driving continued engagement with customers.
The anniversary initiative reflects the brand’s broader strategy of blending nostalgia with innovation, as it continues to expand its presence through smaller-format stores, enhanced e-commerce, and investments in delivery and fulfilment services.
