Nordstrom is looking to further its reputation for service by opening a Nordstrom Local unit in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
The Nordstrom Local unit is designed as a pickup and drop-off area for online purchases from the e-commerce platform.
Fanya Chandler, President of Nordstrom stores, said in a statement to Retail Touchpoints: “New York is one of our largest markets, and we’re looking forward to opening Nordstrom Local Williamsburg to offer Brooklyn customers even more opportunities to engage with our services closer to where they live and work.
“We’ve learned a lot from our existing locations in the market and are excited to offer customers more convenience and personalized service.”
Additionally, the locations can be used for donating secondhand apparel and recycling beauty packaging.
Its new 3,000-square-foot location will officially launch on June 26 and marks the sixth official Nordstrom Local unit.
Nordstrom operates two other units in New York City and two other units in California, at Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, and Newport Beach.
This move may be part of Nordstrom’s broader strategy to continue expanding its brick-and-mortar fleet.
The news comes on the heels of the fashion retailer’s transition into a private company after a $6.25 billion acquisition by the Nordstrom family and Mexican retail company Liverpool.
The fashion retailer also reported a solid financial performance before its acquisition.
