Lowes Foods to open two new stores in North Carolina

Supermarket chain Lowes Foods is growing its presence in North Carolina with two new locations under development.

The grocery retailer plans to open its new locations in Wendell, North Carolina, at Wendell Falls Parkway and Eagle Rock Road, and in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, at the Southeast corner of Old Honeycutt Road and Purfoy Road.

Additionally, the grocer has plans to revamp three stores in the Triangle area of North Carolina.

The new renovations feature redesigned interiors, enhancements, and Lowes Foods exclusive concepts, including Boxcar Coffee and an expanded Cheese Shoppe and Smokehouse.

Tim Lowe, president of Lowes Foods said: “Our remodeling efforts are focused on enriching the everyday shopping experience.

“We want guests to feel at home in our stores and to discover something new each time they visit. Whether it’s through new store openings or reimagined spaces, we are committed to offering an engaging grocery destination that reflects the spirit of each community.”

Moving forward, the grocer plans to convert Kj’s Market’s banner in John’s Island, South Carolina to a Lowes Foods store.

Lowe’s added: “This update reflects our commitment to delivering the right experience for every community we serve. Kj’s Market is an important part of our portfolio, and we’re confident Lowes Foods will offer an experience more tailored to this area’s unique demographic.”

The news comes on the heels of a store closure on May 14 of its 930 High House Road in Cary location.

The grocery retailer shuttered the store as part of its strategy to streamline operations and invest in developing new stores.

Other grocery retailers are also downsizing, with Amazon Fresh also closing down two underperforming locations earlier this year.

Lowes Foods currently operates around 80 locations in Carolina and Georgia.
