Revlon has appointed Ralph Marshall as its new chief information and digital officer, effective 1 April, succeeding current CIO Paul Smith, who will leave the company next month.
Marshall has extensive experience, having previously served as global chief technology officer at Merlin Entertainments.
Additionally, he served in senior technology leadership roles at Starbucks, Nando’s, and McDonald’s.
During his time as VP of technology EMEA at Starbucks, he successfully implemented the Starbucks Digital Solutions strategy across 86 different markets and established and oversaw a new team in London.
The appointment aligns with the company’s goal of focusing on technology and innovation to accelerate growth.
Recently, cosmetic retailers have been leveraging technology such as AI tools and virtual reality to improve their shopping experiences.
Revlon had previously faced financial struggles but emerged from bankruptcy in 2023 as a privately owned company after clearing over $2.7 billion in debt.
Michelle Peluso, Revlon’s CEO, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Ralph to the Revlon team. Ralph brings a robust global perspective from his many leadership roles at well-known, global brands, in addition to a passion for coaching and mentoring teams.
“His end-to-end technical expertise and deep understanding of how to leverage technology to strengthen the consumer experience will be critical as we work to unlock the long-term growth potential of our brands.”
The company also moved its New Jersey science and innovation lab to the Northeast Science and Technology Center.
Revlon is headquartered in New York City, was founded in 1932 and currently operates a portfolio of beauty and skincare brands, including Elizabeth Arden.
