Dollar Tree posted a strong performance in its second quarter, which ended on 2 August 2026, with net sales increasing by 7 per cent to $4.9bn.
The discount retailer’s comparable sales went up by 3.7 per cent, which was boosted by a 3.3 per cent growth in average ticket and 0.4 per cent increase in traffic.
Dollar Tree’s second quarter operating income went up by 198.7 per cent to $690m, which was boosted by the positive impact from tariff refunds.
The company’s gross profit surged by 21.9 per cent to $3.9bn in the first half, and the gross profit margin expanded 480 basis points to 39.8 per cent.
Dollar Tree’s operating income also rose significantly by 89.1 per cent to $1.16bn in the first half, and the operating income margin expanded approximately 510 basis points to 11.8 per cent.
During the second quarter, the discount chain opened 75 new stores and added or converted 710 locations to the multi-price format.
Dollar Tree has now expanded its physical footprint and operates 9,436 stores across the Dollar Tree US and Dollar Tree Canada banners. Moving forward, the company plans to open approximately 400 new locations and close 75 stores.
The discounter forecasted a comparable net sales growth of 3 per cent to 4 per cent of $20.5 bn to $20.7bn for the fiscal year 2026.The company expects third quarter net sales growth in the range of 3 per cent to 4 per cent.
