Amazon ranked most persuasive brand in US, YouGov report finds

Amazon has been named the most persuasive brand in the United States, topping YouGov’s 2025 rankings.

The ecommerce giant outperformed Walmart, Amazon Prime, Spotify, and Apple, demonstrating the strongest ability to convert consumer awareness into purchasing intent.

The study, based on data from March 2024 to February 2025, analysed nearly 2,000 brands across multiple industries using YouGov’s BrandIndex.

It assessed consumer awareness, purchase consideration, and purchase intent to determine which companies are most effective at guiding potential customers through the buying journey.

Amazon led in both key conversion metrics, achieving an 84% consideration conversion rate and a 77% purchase intent conversion rate – higher than any other brand in the rankings.

Walmart and Toyota were also recognised for their success in turning consumer awareness into intent to purchase.

The report highlighted broader consumer trends, noting that men are more inclined than women to buy from well-known brands, 30% and 20% respectively.

Additionally, 78% of US consumers tend to remain loyal to their preferred brands, regardless of competitor promotions.

“In today’s online marketplace, consumers have a seemingly never-ending list of options no matter what they are looking to buy,” said Reuben Staines, head of marketing at YouGov America.

“While brands like Amazon, Walmart, and Toyota benefit from widespread brand awareness, our report shows that high levels of brand awareness don’t ultimately lead to purchase consideration for all brands.

“Understanding how persuasive your brand is at moving consumers down the funnel is critical to determining future marketing investments.”

YouGov also identified two types of ‘conversion masters’ across various industries.

These include ‘awareness advancers’ which have the highest proportion of consumers willing to consider their products and ‘consideration closers’ which secure the strongest intent to purchase.
