Best Buy opens first-ever in-store Ikea shops in select locations

Ikea is setting up shop inside select Best Buy stores as part of a new retail partnership.

The Swedish furniture giant and Best Buy Co. have launched an in-store planning and shopping experience at 10 Best Buy locations across Texas and Florida.

Six shops are now open, with three more set to debut in mid-November and one later this winter.

The new Ikea spaces feature curated room vignettes that combine Ikea furnishings with Best Buy appliances, allowing customers to explore kitchen and laundry setups and design their own spaces.

Shoppers can work with Ikea U.S. design specialists to plan home projects, while Best Buy’s “Blue Shirts” offer guidance on appliances and electronics.

“We’re always looking for ways to better help our customers bring the best experiences to life in their homes, and we’re excited for them to explore Ikea at Best Buy and discover what’s possible when great design meets the latest technology,” said Patrick McGinnis, chief merchandising officer at Best Buy.

The in-store Ikea shops are already open in Boynton Beach, Melbourne, Lakeland, Waterford Lakes and Daytona Beach, Florida, as well as Alamo Ranch, Texas.

Additional openings include Mesquite, Hulen and South Austin, Texas, on November 14, and Humble, Texas, later this winter.

Two of the locations; Lakeland, Fla., and Alamo Ranch, Texas, will also serve as Ikea pick-up points, allowing customers to collect most Ikea U.S. products for free at those Best Buy stores, whether ordered in-store or online.

“We can’t wait to welcome customers in Florida and Texas to experience this new way to shop Ikea in Best Buy,” said Javier Quiñones, CEO and chief sustainability officer, Ikea U.S.

“For the first time in the U.S., Ikea products will be available through another retailer, which is a big step forward on our journey to create a better everyday life for the many people.”

The collaboration coincides with Best Buy’s broader holiday push, which includes extended partnerships with Meta to showcase AI glasses and immersive tech experiences in more than 50 stores.

Based in Minneapolis, Best Buy operates more than 1,000 retail stores across North America. Ikea’s Ingka Group runs 375 stores in 30 countries, including 51 in the U.S.
