Discount giant Dollar General has introduced a week-long promotion on personal care products, coinciding with the expansion of its national and exclusive beauty brand offerings.
The ‘7 Days of Savings Beauty’ event, which began on 6 April and runs through 12 April, offers daily discounts on a rotating selection of items including haircare, skincare and hygiene products.
The promotional activity supports the retailer’s ongoing efforts to grow its presence in the beauty and personal care sector.
“At Dollar General, we believe everyone deserves to feel beautiful and confident, and financial constraints shouldn’t be a barrier,” said Jimmy Nguyen, vice president and division merchandise manager of health and beauty at Dollar General.
“We are excited to offer our customers a carefully curated and accessible, on-trend assortment of products they need and want across beauty, self and family care.”
The campaign features savings such as $2 off MONDAY haircare, $3 off Dial body wash, and buy-one-get-one-free offers on selected Old Spice and Secret deodorants, as well as Dial soaps and other branded lines.
Over the past year, Dollar General has added several recognised brands to its shelves.
For example, e.l.f. Cosmetics, which launched in stores last autumn – will be available in more than 10,000 locations this spring. MONDAY Haircare, priced between $5 and $7, is now available in around 17,000 stores.
Additionally, Root to End, which first launched at Dollar General in 2021, has extended its range to include new shampoos, conditioners, and dry shampoo products.
Unilever has also introduced a Degree body wash line developed exclusively for Dollar General, available in four scents at a $5 price point.
The initiative follows a recent consumer insight report from Numerator, which found that Dollar General customers spend more on average than those at rival discount chain Dollar Tree.
