Kohl’s has announced a partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA), under which the retailer will distribute $1,000 Kohl’s Cares Shopping Grants to 165 Boys & Girls Clubs nationwide.
This initiative aims to support the clubs’ back-to-school efforts by providing funds for purchasing essential supplies and other items needed for youth programming.
The program allocates a $1,000 grant to each participating Boys & Girls Club to be used in Kohl’s stores.
Kohl’s has stated that these grants are intended to assist in equipping the clubs with necessary resources as they prepare for the upcoming school year.
The retailer’s announcement highlights the scale of the partnership, encompassing 165 Boys & Girls Clubs across diverse regions. Some of the essentials that the grocery retailer will contribute will include apparel and shoes for the upcoming school year.
The Cares Shopping Grants program operates through a defined mechanism where clubs receive a credit to shop in stores, which Kohl’s says supports the needs of local communities served by these clubs.
The back-to-school timing of the grant distribution aligns with a strategic window when demand for school-related goods peaks, a factor Kohl’s highlights as beneficial for the clubs’ operational readiness.
Patrick Stewart, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri, said: “To some, a new pair of shoes and clothes is normal for back-to-school time. To some children, it is a boost to their self-esteem and confidence. Thanks to Kohl’s, our young people feel seen and supported!”
