Walmart plans to build a $1.3bn fulfillment center in Carnesville, Georgia, in late 2026, according to a press release from the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
This new 1.5m sq. ft. automated facility center will be located at the Franklin 85 Logistics Center in Carnesville, which is placed in a strategic area to expand same-day and next-day shipping capabilities across the US.
Walmart is investing in improving its operations, with the new facility including better technology and boosting its fulfillment capabilities.
Karisa Sprague, SVP, supply chain, Walmart US said: “As customer expectations continue to evolve, investments like our new fulfillment center in Carnesville help us deliver the speed, convenience, and reliability customers count on.
“We’re excited to join the Carnesville community and create meaningful career opportunities where associates can grow and build their future with Walmart.”
The new center will create over 1,000 new jobs within the area and is set to boost economic activity in Franklin County, according to the official statement issued.
This builds on the retailer’s presence in Georgia, which includes 209 Walmart stores and Sam’s Clubs, as well as 11 supply chain facilities, which employs over 65,300 associates across the state.
Walmart also backs local-owned small businesses in Georgia, spending over $26.2bn with suppliers and supporting over 167,600 jobs in fiscal year 2025, alone.
