DoorDash is scaling its autonomous delivery efforts, launching Wing-powered drone delivery in the metro Atlanta area.
The service is initially available to customers near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove, where users can order from participating restaurants and receive deliveries by drone in as little as 20 minutes.
Early partners include local operators such as Molinos Mexican Grill, Koji Japanese Steakhouse and Sabrosos Mexican Restaurant.
The launch marks the latest step in DoorDash’s ongoing partnership with Wing, the drone delivery unit backed by Alphabet. The companies first teamed up in Australia in 2022 before expanding to U.S. pilot markets.
DoorDash has since tested the model in Christiansburg, where customers could order drone-delivered meals from Wendy’s, and extended the concept to retail environments including shopping centres in Frisco and Fort Worth. A further rollout in Charlotte followed in 2025.
Eligible customers in Atlanta will see a drone delivery option within the DoorDash app. Orders that meet size and weight limits can be dispatched via Wing drones, with real-time tracking available through to drop-off.
The rollout is being driven by DoorDash Labs, the company’s robotics and automation division focused on scaling new delivery technologies.
The expansion underscores DoorDash’s broader push into autonomous fulfilment, positioning drones as a faster and potentially more efficient last-mile option for lightweight orders.
Wing, which already completes thousands of drone deliveries daily across U.S. metros, is using the partnership to extend its footprint, while DoorDash continues to integrate automation into its core logistics network.
The companies plan to expand the service to additional neighbourhoods over time, with users outside the initial зоны able to join a waitlist for future access.
