Lowe’s invests $20m in nonprofit charities

Lowe’s announced a $10m investment in the retailer’s Community Impact Grants to fund large-scale projects for 100 nonprofit and community organizations.

The retailer’s investment aims to assist in completing bucket list renovation projects that develop hometowns.

The company will also be investing an additional $10m to support over 2,000 employee-led impact projects, which will improve community spaces across the country.

This move fulfills the retailer’s five-year, $100m commitment to revitalizing and restoring hometowns in the US.

Each of the projects was selected from over 5,000 nominations through Lowe’s Community Bucet list and will address local needs such as expanding food pantries and restoring shelters.

Marvin Ellison, Lowe’s chairman and CEO said: “At Lowe’s, we believe strong communities are built by the organizations and people who help their neighbors every day. Through Lowe’s Community Impact Program, we’re honored to invest in projects that help organizations expand their reach, restore vital spaces, and deliver the services communities count on.

“Powered by the passion of our 300,000 red vest associates, these projects reflect Lowe’s commitment to rolling up our sleeves and making a lasting difference in our hometowns.”

Some of the chosen projects include completing the Food Insecurity Shared Hub (F.I.S.H.), which helps a coalition of nonprofit partners to distribute meals to those in need in Los Angeles.

Additionally, the funds will help to build an accessible playground and outdoor learning center for Third Creek Elementary in Statesville, North Carolina.

This comes as part of the home improvement retailer’s push towards investing in charitable programs, previously announcing a $9m contribution to Gable Grants to train tradespeople.
