Home improvement retailer Lowe’s has announced the launch of a generative AI tool designed to help its staff members with inquiries and customer service.
The new AI application, Mylow Companion, will leverage generative AI to assist staff members by offering information and generating responses to prompts.
Seemantini Godbole, Chief Digital and Information Officer at Lowe’s, said: “Mylow Companion is another example of Lowe’s living out its commitment to elevate the customer and associate experience.
“Whether associates have been on the job for five weeks or five years, they can be confident they’re delivering expert-level advice and assistance, and customers can trust they’re getting the best service and experience of any retailer.”
The new application is set to be launched at its over 1700 stores across the US.
The home improvement retailer launched the application after the successful debut of the Mylow app, designed to help customers with purchases in March 2025.
Chandhu Nair, SVP of technology at Lowe’s, said: “We’re doubling down with emerging technology collaborators like OpenAI to solve problems for our customers and because we want the home improvement experience at Lowe’s to be a cut above.”
Mylow and Mylow Companion were created in a partnership with OpenAI, and the company plans to continue upgrading the apps and will roll out new features based on feedback.
It joins a broader trend of retailers investing in AI to enhance their operations, with a report revealing that retailers in the US spent a total of $400k on AI developments in 2024.
