Pharmacy savings platform GoodRx has teamed up with regional grocer Hy-Vee to simplify the digital prescription process, enabling a smoother path for customers to secure medications online.
Shoppers using GoodRx can now select Hy-Vee as their preferred pharmacy, check real-time inventory, validate prescriptions and complete payment online before collecting their order in-store.
“Using this new online experience will help patients manage their costs more effectively and enhance the overall pharmacy experience for both patients and our pharmacy staff,” said Angie Nelson, SVP of Pharmacy at Hy-Vee.
The partnership is part of broader efforts by both companies to evolve their digital strategies.
Hy-Vee has invested heavily in modernizing its retail and pharmacy operations over the past year.
In November 2024, it upgraded its logistics systems with support from Manhattan Associates, and in July it expanded the capabilities of its RedMedia network with digital shelf tags and post-purchase offers.
Earlier this year, it integrated Instacart’s Carrot Ads platform, giving RedMedia access to advanced advertising tools and wider CPG partnerships.
These enhancements followed a December 2024 collaboration with in-store media provider Grocery TV.
“Today’s interactions at the pharmacy counter are often fraught with friction points, both for pharmacists and consumers,” added Wendy Barnes, CEO and president of GoodRx.
“We understand the need to develop innovative solutions that make it easier for people to get their medications, and are working with retailers and pharmaceutical manufacturers to modernize the online experience so we can help remove the strain on all sides.”
