Amazon rolls out new AI tool that links to third-party websites

Amazon has unveiled a new AI agentic tool, Buy For Me, designed to help customers purchase products from third-party websites from within the Amazon Shopping application.

The feature rolled out to an exclusive number of users in the US.

Oliver Messenger, shopping director at Amazon, said: “We’re always working to invent new ways to make shopping even more convenient, and we’ve created Buy For Me to help customers quickly and easily find and buy products from other brand stores if we don’t currently sell those items in our store.”

“This new feature uses agentic AI to help customers seamlessly purchase from other brands within the familiar Amazon Shopping app, while also giving brands increased exposure and seamless conversion.”

The company aims to improve the shopping experience by expanding the options for customers to find more products outside the website; the Buy For Me link is produced with a product detail page.

Amazon then purchases the item on a customer’s behalf and can track their order through the Amazon Shopping application.

Orders are shipped and fulfilled by the third-party ecommerce websites, which also oversee customer complaints and refunds.

This aligns with the retailer’s growth strategy to implement technology to grow its business and enhance company operations.

Recently, it launched a new AI tool, Interests, which is made to personalize searches for customers online, and it is set to roll out nationwide soon.

The online retailer is also building a new fulfillment center in North Carolina, which is set to open in 2026.
