Walmart has unveiled a new generative AI tool named Wally, designed to help store merchants with multiple tasks.
The AI tool allows merchants to ask questions and receive answers without any prior technical training.
The retail giant plans to enhance efficiency within store operations by reducing the friction of manual reporting, which allows merchants to have more time to focus on delivering products.
As part of the training process for the AI model, Walmart added a semantic layer, which allows the tool to process large amounts of product data with advanced algorithms and computational infrastructure.
According to the company, the response to the AI tool has been positive, and it will continue to work on developing the tool based on employee feedback and merchant requirements.
Walmart has been integrating AI features to enhance its shopping experience and help with the company’s long-term goals.
The large-scale retailer previously partnered with Helios AI to build its procurement strategies and assess climate change effects on the company’s supply chain.
Walmart currently operates over 10,500 stores and over 400 fuel stations, recently announcing plans to open 45 more.
