Japanese fashion giant Uniqlo has introduced its first in-store coffee shop in North America, expanding its retail experience beyond clothing.
Uniqlo Coffee has officially launched inside the brand’s flagship store on Fifth Avenue in New York City, offering customers a selection of coffee beverages and sweet treats.
While this marks the brand’s first coffee venture in the US, Uniqlo has already established several similar cafés across Asia, including in Japan, Hong Kong, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
The New York location follows the same model, offering a ‘seamless integration’ of retail and refreshment.
The retailer has not ruled out further expansion of its coffee concept in the US, stating that future openings will depend on customer reception and feedback at the Fifth Avenue store.
Uniqlo is not the first Japanese retailer to enter the food and beverage space.
Lifestyle brand Muji made a similar move earlier this year with the opening of its first-ever Muji Food Market in New York’s Chelsea Market.
With its latest addition, Uniqlo joins a growing trend of fashion retailers enhancing the shopping experience with in-store dining.
The café, situated on the store’s second floor, features a menu that includes hot and cold coffee drinks, espresso, cappuccino, lattes with oat and soy alternatives, matcha lattes, and a single-origin Ethiopian coffee.
Non-caffeinated options such as hot chocolate, orange juice, bottled water, and sparkling water are also available.
Uniqlo Coffee operates in line with the store’s opening hours.
