Aldi partners with Digital Wave Technology to automate digital product descriptions

Grocery retailer Aldi is partnering with Digital Wave Technology to use AI for generating enhanced product descriptions and brand-aligned copy, aiming to boost customer engagement.

With its newly implemented technology, Aldi can now provide customer-friendly product information across its website, app, and emails.

Its AI-powered product attribution tool extracts details from images and packaging, making it easier for customers to search for products.

Additionally, an AI copywriter will generate multilingual, search optimized product descriptions, broadening customer reach.

The grocer aims to boost operational efficiency, enhance the customer experience, and improve product discoverability through its AI-driven features.

Lori Schafer, CEO of Digital Wave Technology, said: “Aldi is a brand synonymous with innovation and excellence in every customer interaction.

“Our AI-native solutions will integrate with the existing Aldi digital infrastructure, driving revenue growth and improving profitability while delivering exceptional product experiences.

“We’re excited to support Aldi as it continues to set benchmarks in the grocery sector.”

As part of its broader 2025 US expansion, Aldi plans to open 225 new stores and rebrand 220 Southeastern Grocers locations under its banner.

The retailer is also investing $9 billion in a five-year growth strategy, aiming to open 800 new stores by 2028.

In 2024, the grocery chain opened nearly 120 stores, expanding its US footprint to approximately 2,400 locations.

Aldi now ranks as the third-largest grocer in the US.
