Costco revives reserved entry perk to help members beat long queues

Costco has brought back a popular perk that lets certain members bypass long entry lines at its warehouses.

The retailer is once again offering reserved entry for Costco Executive members and its Citi co-branded credit cardholders.

The move is aimed at improving the in-store experience during busy periods, particularly as crowds surge around holidays and weekends.

With reserved entry, eligible shoppers can access the warehouse through a designated door, helping them skip the main queue.

Executive members, who pay $120 annually compared to $60 for standard members, already receive benefits such as 2% cashback on purchases up to $1,000 per year.

The added convenience of quicker access may offer another reason to justify the higher-tier membership.

The exclusive entry benefit had been available previously but was quietly shelved.

Its return comes as Costco looks to boost the value proposition of its membership at a time when warehouse clubs are seeing strong traffic from inflation-weary shoppers seeking bulk savings.

Costco has not said whether the perk will be permanent or if it’s part of a limited-time trial.

However, it adds another layer of incentive for customers to upgrade or stick with premium memberships amid rising competition in the discount retail space.
