Rent the Runway has introduced a luxury handbag collection, which is exclusively available to members of the retailer’s loyalty scheme.
This marks a significant expansion for the retailers’ offerings, which now allows consumers to rent handbags from an assortment.
The introduction of luxury handbags aims to build on the company’s mission of offering consumers a variety of options for experimentation and discovery.
The members of the loyalty scheme will be able to rent a luxury handbag for 30 days at a time, with a variation in pricing and style.
The collection was curated by Rent the Runway’s merchandising team and features styles from over 20 designer brands.
As part of the collection, there are top-handle bags and relaxed shoulder silhouettes, and there are new and vintage pieces.
Sarah Tam, chief merchant of Rent the Runway said: “Every piece was selected with intention, striking a balance between timeless and directional, understated and expressive.
“What makes rental so exciting is the freedom to explore different sides of your personal style, something beautifully classic one month and something bold and unexpected the next. It makes luxury feel less about permanence and more about possibility.”
There is also authentication and quality assurance with the products sourced directly from brands and accredited third-party sellers.
Paige Thomas, CEO of Rent the Runway said: “A remarkable handbag can transform a look and become a powerful expression of personal style.
“Our members have been asking for a more elevated luxury offering, and we’re thrilled to bring this collection to our Icon members first. It’s an exciting next chapter in how we continue to evolve with our customers and inspire their love of fashion.”
The new launch will be supported by a marketing campaign, Every Icon Needs an Iconic Bag, which features Larissa Mills, Laura Jung, and Monroe Steele.
The campaign aims to showcase three different perspectives on what it means to be an icon and encourage individuality and self-expression in fashion.
