Grubhub has announced the expansion of its services into multi-store ordering with a single checkout process.
The delivery platform aims to streamline the checkout and delivery process for its customers.
Grubhub tapped in a new feature that allows customers to purchase products from two different stores in one single-checkout experience.
It joins other e-commerce delivery platforms that allow customers to purchase with multi-store offerings, such as Instacart and Amazon.
Emma Cai, director of product management at Grubhub commented: “Today’s customers aren’t just ordering dinner—they’re looking for smarter, more convenient ways to check multiple things off their list in a single tap.
“With Multi-Store Ordering, we’re creating a more unified shopping and delivery experience that reflects how people actually live—combining everything from sushi to snacks to birthday bouquets in one order.”
Moving forward, customers will be able to purchase food, beverage, and grocery products from different stores and receive one checkout process and one delivery fee.
The news comes on the heels of legal trouble for the delivery giant. Grubhub, Doordash and Uber Eats recently settled a lawsuit in New York City over the delivery fee caps, which the business claimed affected its overall profits and performance.
Additionally, in March, the food delivery service announced its decision to lay off 500 employees following its acquisition by Wonder. Grubhub aimed to streamline its operations by downsizing its workforce by around 20%.
Grubhub currently serves over 375,000 merchants across 4,000 US cities and aims to help restaurants grow their footprint through delivery.
