Walmart has achieved the milestone of opening its 100th company-owned and operated electric vehicle fast-charging site at the Walmart Supercenter located at Jackson Creek Parkway in Monument, Colorado.
The retailer is expanding its network with the goal of bringing fast, dependable charging to places where customers are shopping and are now available at 100 stores across 20 states.
The company’s charging stalls are located next to its stores, and the experience is integrated into the Walmart app, which makes it more convenient for customers.
Shayne Wahlmeier, SVP at Walmart Energy said: “By expanding EV fast charging at Walmart locations across the country, we’re giving drivers a dependable way to charge while they’re in the store.
“Reaching 100 sites is an important milestone, and our broad footprint positions us to make EV charging more accessible for communities while expanding the ways we serve our customers.”
The retailer plans to continue expanding its markets where customers require more access to convenient and dependable fast charging.
Walmart’s current and upcoming EV charging locations are listed on the EV Charging Website as well as major mapping platforms, including Apple Maps, Google Maps, PlugShare, and Chargeway.
Members of the retailer’s loyalty program are able to receive discounted charging rates, which brings in additional savings.
Most of Walmart’s EV charging locations have 8 to 16 fast-charging stalls with chargers that are capable of delivering up to 400kW of power.
Adam Happel, general manager of Walmart Retail EV Charging added: “When a customer pulls into a Walmart to charge, we want the experience to feel as reliable and effortless as the rest of their shopping trip.
“We’re proud to reach 100 sites, but our focus remains on building a network customers can count on every time they charge with us.”
