Quiksilver women’s line moves to wholesale after retail shake-up

After the recent bankruptcy of Liberated Brands, the operator of Quiksilver stores, Authentic Brands Group, has moved swiftly to ensure availability of Quiksilver women’s apparel to consumers.

The brand’s owner has partnered with Velocity Global Brands to oversee the design, production and distribution of Quiksilver’s women’s collection across the US and Canada.

The range, which includes swimwear, boardshorts, dresses, outerwear, and denim, is set to hit select retailers by spring.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Authentic to bring the Quiksilver women’s line back to life,” said Chris Laurita, co-CEO of Velocity Global.

“Through this launch, we will honor Quiksilver’s rich legacy while looking ahead. We will blend surf culture with refined sophistication, bringing the best of the past and future together.”

Authentic, which acquired Quiksilver as part of its purchase of parent company Boardriders in 2023, had already planned a shift toward a wholesale model for several of its surf and skate brands.

That transition accelerated in February 2025 when Liberated Brands filed for bankruptcy, prompting clearance sales at all 122 of its stores.

While the bankruptcy affects the retailer’s physical operations, Authentic retains full ownership of Quiksilver and its sister brands, including Billabong and RVCA.

The move to wholesale for ensures that the brand continues to have a strong retail presence despite the broader shake-up in its distribution model.
