Albertsons appoints former Fresh Market exec as CMO

Albertsons has announced the appointment of Emily Turner as the senior vice president and chief marketing officer, effective immediately.

As part of the role, Turner will manage Albertsons’ marketing strategy across the main categories that drive customer growth and engagement.

She will report directly to Michelle Larson, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer.

Turner brings years of extensive experience to the role, having previously worked within customer-focused marketing organizations across the retail industry.

In her most recent position, she worked as the CMO at The Fresh Market, where she developed the enterprise marketing function and helped evolve the company’s digital and customer experience capabilities.

Additionally, Turner has also worked at multiple marketing positions at discount retailers Dollar Tree and Family Dollar.

Larson said: “Emily is a highly respected marketing leader with a proven ability to build customer-centric brands and deliver meaningful business results.

“Her expertise connecting with customers and leading transformational change will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen loyalty and build deeper relationships with the customers we serve.”

This is a strategic business move from the grocery chain to strengthen its leadership team as it pushes towards more growth and innovation.

Earlier this year Albertsons tested advertisements on ChatGPT ahead of Valentine’s Day as part of the OpenAI Ad Pilot Program, and it became one of the many retailers to pilot marketing within a generative AI platform.
