Kohl’s offers 10m meals to families over holiday season

Kohl’s has announced a $1m donation to Feeding America as part of its mission to help address food insecurity and support family health and well-being during the holiday season.

The gift is set to directly support Feeding America partners across the country, which helps local food banks to stock with essentials and provide 10m meals to families.

Additionally, staff members are participating in offering hands-on volunteer support to help local food banks prepare for the upcoming holiday season.

Kohl’s Care is set to double its donation for every hour an employee volunteers to $50 an hour at a Feeding America partner food bank over the two months.

Jennie Kent, chief legal and corporate affairs officer at Kohl’s said: “We are proud to partner with Feeding America this holiday season to help address food insecurity across the country.

“By working directly with local food banks, our donation will help Feeding America provide millions of meals in communities nationwide, ensuring families have access to the food they need.”

This comes as research by Feeding America revealed that nearly 48m people including over 14m children, are facing food insecurity.

According to the business, this contribution will assist food banks with meeting the sustained demand and connect people with fresh food over the holidays.

Lisa Mann, chief development officer at Feeding America said: “The holidays are a time for connection, traditions, and sharing meals with the people we love.

“Thanks to Kohl’s generous $1m gift and the commitment of their associate volunteers, food banks across the Feeding America network can help keep nourishing food within reach for neighbors this season.

“Together, we’re helping bring greater certainty and stability to families and helping ensure everyone has a place at the table.”
