Global fashion retailer Mango has appointed Katarzyna Niemirowicz-Majtas as chief retail officer effective immediately.
She succeeds César de Vicente, who is leaving the business to pursue another opportunity outside the company.
As part of the new position, Niemirowicz-Majtas will manage and oversee global retail and commercial operations.
She joined Mango in May as the international retail director for Northern Europe and brings over 20 years of experience to the position.
According to the business, she will be in charge of executing the company’s 4E strategic plan, which is focused on strengthening Mango’s business model and expanding its physical store network.
During the transition period the teams in Northern Europe will continue to report directly to Niemirowicz-Majtas on a temporary basis.
Before joining Mango, she worked in a range of senior commercial positions across the fashion industry internationally, including at H&M, where she oversaw commercial strategy for around 20 countries.
Niemirowicz-Majtas said: “I am taking on this new challenge with the goal of enhancing operational excellence, driving profitable growth across our commercial network, and elevating the experience of our Mango customers worldwide, working hand in hand with an exceptional team.”
During her time at fast fashion retailer H&M, she held various leadership roles, including country manager in Italy as well as managing operations in Spain and Portugal, where she helped boost profitability in the region.
She will report directly to Mango chairman and CEO Toni Ruiz to bring her experience to the continued development of the fashion retailer’s physical and digital retail network.
Her appointment reinforces the fashion retailer’s commitment to strengthening its executive leadership team to support the company’s growth plans within the upcoming years.
