Gap launched the Future Creators Program, a collaborative initiative with the Fashion Institute of Technology’s (FIT) Precollege Programs and The Brotherhood Sister Sol (BroSis).
This initiative aims to expand creative learning and career exploration for New York City youth. The six-week course involved 50 students aged 13 to 18 and focused on bridging opportunity gaps through education and skills development in the creative industries.
According to the business, the initiative seeks to address limited exposure and guidance that many young people face in accessing careers within creative fields.
The program exposes participants to real-world creative processes within contemporary fashion and collaborative learning experiences.
Tish Archie-Oliver, chief inclusion & belonging officer at Gap said: “The future of our industry depends on the next generation of talent. By supporting high school students, we’re helping bridge gaps between education and industry, talent and access, and aspiration and opportunity.
“This work reflects a shared belief that every young person deserves the chance to discover their potential and imagine what’s possible for their future.”
The Future Creators course from Gap was structured around three pathways—Form (fashion design), Image (fine arts), and Digital (photography)—allowing students to develop personal fashion narratives rooted in their unique perspectives.
Participants engaged in research, concept development, experimentation, and production to explore how fashion communicates ideas and personal stories.
The fashion brand emphasizes the role of arts and creative education in improving academic success, access to higher education, and early career pathways, especially for disadvantaged youth.
Zac Posen, EVP and creative director of Gap said: “What excites me most about it isn’t just the work these students produced—it’s the potential it represents.
“There are young creators in every community who deserve the opportunity to be seen, supported, and inspired. This inaugural program is an important first step, and we’re energized by what’s possible.”
