PayPal rolls out ‘Pay in 4’ interest-free payment option for Canadian shoppers

PayPal has launched its Pay in 4 buy now, pay later (BNPL) service in Canada, giving consumers a new interest-free, no-fee way to split online purchases during the holiday shopping season.

The new option lets shoppers divide eligible purchases from $30 to $1,500 into four equal payments over six weeks, with no hidden fees or interest.

Payments are deducted automatically from a linked debit card, credit card, or bank account, and customers can also pay off the balance early via the PayPal app or website.

Pay in 4 is now available at millions of retailers across Canada, including Knix, Samsonite, Silk & Snow, The Home Depot Canada and Ticketmaster.

Originally launched in the U.S. in 2020, Pay in 4 builds on PayPal’s suite of flexible payment options, including Pay Monthly, which lets customers spread larger purchases of up to $10,000 over six to 24 months.

“PayPal has served Canadians for over 15 years and is one of the most trusted brands across the country,” said Michelle Gill, GM of small business and financial services at PayPal.

“To meet demand for transparent and trusted payment options, PayPal’s Pay in 4 helps Canadians manage cash flow without late fees or hidden costs.”

To mark the rollout, PayPal is partnering with mall operator Cadillac Fairview to enable Pay in 4 at its online stores and host holiday activations in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver.

The campaign will include a “Pay in 4, Play in 4” pop-up and online game offering prizes of up to $1,000.
