Albertsons launches e-commerce platform for business owners

Albertsons has announced the launch of an e-commerce platform tailored for small businesses to purchase groceries and necessities.

The platform rolled out at over 2,000 Albertson’s stores under its banners and features same-day delivery, flexible payment, and tax-free orders.

The retailer aims to expand its e-commerce reach by offering business-to-business services to small businesses, schools, offices, and government and community organizations.

Banners under Albertson’s portfolio, including Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw’s, Acme, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and Star Market, will be offering products on the platform.

The platform will offer a range of products, including food, snacks, beverages, and catering products.

Additional features of the new program include a free business account for shoppers and white-glove services.

Stephen Menaquale, SVP of e-commerce for Albertsons, said: “Albertsons Cos. is well-positioned to meet the needs of business customers so they can spend their time running the business, not errands.

“We saw an opportunity in the market to reach this important customer base and foster customer growth by leveraging our extensive store network and diverse product selection. E-commerce is a top priority for Albertsons Cos., and the enhancement of our business platform underscores its critical role.”

In the beginning of May, the retailer underwent a CEO transition after posting strong Q4 results, with significant growth in its online sector, with digital sales soaring by 24%.

Additionally, in April the grocer rolled out streamlined FreshPass discounts for SNAP customers, aiming to support SNAP shoppers with low incomes.

Albertsons currently runs around 2,200 stores in 34 states across the US.
