Balenciaga announces departure of creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli

Luxury fashion company Kering has announced the departure of Balenciaga’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli, effective immediately.

The business did not disclose the reason before his exit and is set to announce the new leadership structure soon.

Piccioli joined the luxury fashion brand in May 2025 and has now left after less than two years in the position.

Gianfranco Gianangeli, president and CEO of Balenciaga, said: “We are deeply grateful for Pierpaolo’s contribution to Balenciaga.

“Through his vision, he reaffirmed the couture origins of the House, bringing his considered approach to craftsmanship, construction, and creativity. I would like to sincerely thank him for his dedication, generosity, and collaboration.”

Luca de Meo, CEO of Kering, added: “Pierpaolo is an exceptional couturier and creative talent for whom we have the greatest respect.

“Our ambition is to build on Balenciaga avant garde spirit, honor its remarkable heritage and continue to push creative boundaries, further establishing the House as a powerful and relevant voice.”

This comes after a series of departures at Kering, which is the parent company of multiple brands, including Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, and Alexander McQueen.

Last month, Alexander McQueen’s creative director, Seán McGirr left the business for undisclosed reasons.

Additionally, in early October the creative director of Saint Laurent departed from the luxury fashion house.
