Bluemercury appoints Bloomingdale’s vet to lead merchandising

Beauty retailer Bluemercury has announced the appointment of former Bloomingdale’s executive Stacie Borteck Dattner as VP and general merchandise manager, merchandising, effective on 12 October.

She is set to report directly to the CEO, Alexandre Choueiri, and will manage the company’s merchandising strategy, propriety brands, and vendor marketing.

According to the business, she will manage how the brand identifies, curates, and markets Bluemercury to resonate with customers.

She worked at Bloomingdale’s for nearly two decades, where she held a number of senior merchandising and leadership positions.

In her most recent role, she served as senior principal, Strategic Capital Planning and Brand Integration.

Dattner also led Bloomingdale’s beauty and fragrance division for seven years. As part of the new role, the business expects her to bring together luxury houses, emerging brands, and Bluemercury’s products to create a relevant assortment.

This comes as Bluemercury works towards strengthening its luxury position in the market and aims to diversify its experience across stores and digital channels.

During her tenure at the luxury fashion retailer, she managed capital and expenditure, major store projects, and brand integration initiatives while contributing to the company’s broader transformation strategy.

Choueiri said: “Stacie is an exceptional merchant and leader who brings a deep understanding of luxury retail and the client experience, along with a strong perspective on beauty.

“As we define the next chapter of Bluemercury, her expertise will be instrumental in sharpening our point of view on luxury beauty, shaping our assortment and strategy, and creating an even more distinctive experience for our clients.

“Her breadth of experience will be an important part of delivering on our mission to be the trusted and elevated beauty destination in your neighborhood.”
