National Co-op Grocers (NCG) has announced the appointment of Michelle Schry as the VP, member success in a newly created position within the company.
She first joined the grocery retailers in 2015 as a strategic development director, where she played an essential role in supporting staff members through planning, executive coaching, and operational development.
As part of the new position, Schry will oversee the company’s strategic development, business expansion, and retail operations.
According to the business, she will be in charge of leading the National Co-op Grocer’s business strategy, assisting the company with maximizing the value received from the programs, and improving overall retail execution.
Ben Nauman, chief operating officer at NCG said: “Michelle’s leadership has helped strengthen member success across the cooperative system and has contributed to innovative programs that continue to shape the future of grocery co-op development.”
She brings over 25 years of experience to the role, and before joining the company, she served as the CEO/general manager of People’s Food Co-op in LaCrosse and WI.
Additionally, she currently works on the board of US Co-op, which is a national association that develops and protects cooperative businesses across various sectors of the economy.
The company was first founded in 1999 and is a business services cooperative for retail food convenience stores located throughout the US.
The grocery retailer’s food co-ops operate 241 stores in 40 states with a combined annual sale of nearly $2.8bn, according to the business.
