Calvin Klein Inc., a brand under PVH Corp., has launched a new initiative designed to make it easier for customers to give their old clothing a second life — regardless of the label on the tag.
The program, called Re-Calvin, provides a free and convenient way for U.S. shoppers to return pre-owned apparel, footwear, and accessories from any brand so they can be reused, recycled, or disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner.
The initiative was developed in partnership with Trove, a company known for its expertise in branded resale and trade-in systems, and Debrand, a specialist in circular logistics and product sortation.
“As Calvin Klein continues its sustainability journey, we are proud to introduce a program that makes circularity more accessible for our customers and delivers alternative uses for pre-loved items,” said David Savman, global brand president at Calvin Klein.
“It was important that we partner with experts with a proven ability to build and scale programs that handle a wide range of products and categories, making it easier than ever for customers to responsibly extend the life of their items.”
Unlike many similar initiatives, Re-Calvin also accepts intimates — including bras, underwear, and swimwear — categories often excluded from circular fashion efforts.
Customers in the United States can go to calvinklein.us/re-calvin to generate a free shipping label and mail in their unwanted items. Once received, each parcel is assessed and sorted for one of three outcomes:
-
Reuse: Items in wearable condition are donated or distributed through secondhand partners.
-
Recycle or Downcycle: Products unsuitable for reuse, including intimates, are processed into new fibers when possible or repurposed into materials like insulation or padding.
-
Responsible Disposal: If no other options are viable, items are converted from waste to energy or alternative fuel sources.
Only garments in good condition are redirected to new owners. Worn, stained, or heavily damaged pieces are instead sent for recycling, downcycling, or safe disposal. After processing, participants receive an email update detailing what happened to their items, ensuring transparency throughout the process.
The system runs on Trove’s new Takeback Plug-In, which integrates directly into Calvin Klein’s U.S. website.
The plug-in enables the brand to efficiently manage item collection, routing, and reporting at scale — even across complex categories like intimates — while supporting a multi-brand take-back approach.
Through Re-Calvin, the company aims to make sustainability and circular fashion easier for every customer to take part in.
