Walmart is set to expand its logistics network with a new $300 million fulfillment center in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
The 1.2 million-square-foot facility will handle large items such as patio furniture and lawnmowers, shipping directly to customers with delivery times as soon as next day.
The project, expected to create more than 300 jobs in Gaston County, is slated to open in 2027.
“As our e-commerce business continues to grow, this new fulfillment center will play a critical role in helping us serve customers faster,” said Karisa Sprague, senior vice president of supply chain, Walmart US
“We’re excited to join the Kings Mountain community and proud to create long-term career opportunities where associates can grow and build their future with Walmart.”
The investment is part of Walmart’s broader push to speed up delivery through new state-of-the-art fulfillment centers, drone delivery pilots, and advanced geospatial mapping technology to optimize delivery zones.
Walmart operates 10,750 stores and multiple e-commerce platforms across 19 countries.
